The River Basin Management plan describes the plan for the entire Eastern River Basin District. We have created Draft Programme of Measures for each river, lake, estuary and lagoon, coast and groundwater. These can be viewed in more detail for your local area at the link below.
A Strategic Environmental Assessment has been completed in parallel to the River Basin Management Plan which ensures that measures are acceptable from a broader environmental perspective.
Additionally an Appropriate Habitats Assessment under Article 6 of the European Communities Habitats Directive has also been completed to ensure the measures will not have a negative impact on our protected habitats.
You are invited to help protect our waters by giving us your views on this Draft Plan at its earliest stage. This is an important stepping stone in the public participation process which is central to making a realistic and successful River Basin Management Plan. Throughout this Draft Plan we have asked you key questions and we encourage you to make comment and tell us your views and opinions on these, or any other issues you may have concerning our waters.
We will be seeking comments for six months on this Draft Plan and associated programme of measures for the Eastern River Basin District . We will gladly accept your comments until the 22 June 2009. Your early response would be appreciated as it would allow us more time to clarify and resolve issues that may arise.
