The ERBD project has recruited a watershed warden to work with the 12 constituent
local authorities in the District investigating causes of pollution and poor ecological status throughout the area.A 12 month programme
of work is being developed aimed at supplementing the limited data on many of our waters and investigating the effects of specific pressures
in each of the sub-catchments. Equipped with a 4 wheel drive jeep, a ribbed inflatable boat and a variety of monitoring and sampling equipment
the watershed warden will spend the next year travelling widely throughout the district gaining a detailed knowledge of "on the ground" conditions
and problem issues.
It is also planned to visit a number of primary schools to inform the children about the ERBD project activities and hopefully engage them in some
of their own monitoring. We hope that engagement with children will encourage parents to take a greater interest in their waters and in ways to protect our natural environment.
