Dublin City Council National Development Plan

The River Basin Management plan describes the plan for the entire Eastern River Basin District. Your local area is described in more detail in the presentations below - including the current condition (or status) of our waters, the objectives that we have set for them, any protected areas (important areas containing rare or vulnerable wildlife or habitats), the problems identified in those catchments and the proposed Programme of Measures to resolve those problems. The Water Framework Directive aims to achieve many goals by 2015, in some areas this will not be possible. The expected timeframe for achievement of goals is also discussed in the presentations below.

Please assist us in selecting the best possible Programme of Measures for the first cycle of the River Basin Management Plan (2009-2015) by reviewing the presentations below with your local knowledge.

1) Are the objectives and expected timeframe appropriate?

2) Have we identified all the problems in your area?

3) Will the Programme of Measures achieve the set objectives, or can you think or more effective measures?

The map below shows 'Water Management Units '. These are local river sub basins in which all rivers, streams and lakes drain to the lowest point. We have used these Water Management Units to group rivers and assist the planning process. Please click on the map below to see a larger version and to find the unit that applies to you.
